Terms of Service

Version 0.1 of 6 October 2026

This English text is a translation for your convenience. Only the German version is binding. Deutsche Fassung (verbindlich)

These terms of service govern the use of Meets at meets.social between you and Felix Reuter ("Meets", "we"). Our details are in the imprint.

1. Parts of these terms

These terms include:

  1. the Community Guidelines,
  2. the rules on uploads and copyright,
  3. the notice and action procedure.

How we process personal data is explained in the privacy policy.

2. What Meets is

Meets is a platform for communities that come together online and in person. On Meets you can start and join communities, share posts and media, chat in community rooms and take part in events. The content on Meets comes from the communities and their members. Meets stores it as a hosting service.

We keep developing Meets. Features can change as long as the core of the service stays and the change is reasonable for you.

3. Free use

Using Meets is free at this time. Paid offers, for example paid membership tiers or tickets, do not exist yet. Before they do, we add sales terms to these terms, which you see and accept before every purchase. Until then you have no payment obligations.

4. Sign up and account

  1. You must be at least 16 years old to create an account.
  2. An account belongs to exactly one person. The details you give when you sign up must be correct. The name you show does not have to be your legal name, but it must not mislead anyone.
  3. Keep your password secret and tell us if you suspect misuse of your account.
  4. Usernames must not infringe the rights of others and must not pretend to be another person, an organization or Meets.
  5. The contract for using Meets is concluded when you sign up and confirm your account.

5. Communities, roles and hosts

  1. Whoever starts a community is its Owner and is responsible for the community, its settings and its moderation. Owners can appoint other people as Admins or Moderators.
  2. Communities can have their own rules. They may be stricter than the Community Guidelines but must not contradict them.
  3. Whoever offers events is their organizer. Meets only provides the platform and does not organize the events of communities.
  4. Whoever runs a community on a business basis is responsible for their own legal duties, for example their own legal notice.

6. Your content

  1. Your content stays your content. You are responsible for it and you warrant that you hold the necessary rights. The details are in the rules on uploads and copyright.
  2. So that Meets can work, you grant us a simple, free of charge, territorially unlimited right to store, copy and technically adapt your content for running Meets and to make it available to the public within the visibility you chose. The right ends when you delete the content, except for copies we must keep for legal reasons.
  3. Content you published in a community generally stays after your account is deleted, as a post of a "Deleted account" without a link to you. When you delete your account you can choose to delete your posts and comments as well.

7. Conduct on Meets

Follow the Community Guidelines and the law. In particular, you must not disrupt Meets technically, bypass security measures, collect data of others automatically (scraping), send spam or evade bans.

8. Moderation and content restrictions

  1. We and the moderation of a community can remove, block, mute or restrict the visibility of content, restrict features and exclude accounts from a community or from Meets when content is illegal or breaks these terms. The Community Guidelines describe the measures.
  2. We decide diligently, objectively and proportionately and take into account the fundamental rights of everyone involved, in particular freedom of expression.
  3. We currently use no automated means to decide about content. If that changes, we say so in these terms and in every statement of reasons.
  4. We give the affected person a statement of reasons for every measure. You can complain about decisions within six months. How reports, statements of reasons, complaints and out of court dispute settlement work is described in the notice and action procedure.
  5. Measures always apply to the acting account, also when it acted in the name of an organization or a community. A ban from all of Meets applies to every profile of the account.

9. Order of content

Your Home feed shows the posts of the communities you belong to in time order, newest first. Explore shows public communities. We do not personalize the order at this time.

10. Ending the contract and deletion

  1. You can end the contract at any time without notice by requesting the deletion of your account. Your account is then deactivated for 14 days. If you log in during that time, you can cancel the deletion. After that we delete it for good.
  2. We can end the contract with 30 days notice. Both sides keep the right to end it for good cause, for example for serious or repeated breaches of these terms.

11. Availability

We aim to keep Meets available at all times. Maintenance, security measures and disruptions beyond our control can limit availability. Free use gives you no claim to constant availability.

12. Liability

  1. We are liable without limitation for intent and gross negligence, for damage from injury to life, body or health and under the German Product Liability Act.
  2. For slight negligence we are liable only for breaches of essential contractual duties, meaning duties whose fulfillment makes the proper performance of the contract possible in the first place and on whose fulfillment you may regularly rely. In that case liability is limited to the foreseeable damage typical for this kind of contract.
  3. Whoever provides content of communities and their members, or organizes events of communities, is responsible for them.

13. Changes to these terms

We can change these terms, for example because of new features or changed laws. We inform you about changes in good time beforehand. Material changes apply only once you agree to them. Every version has a version number and a date, and we store which version you accepted.

14. Language, governing law and dispute resolution

  1. These terms exist in German and English. The German version is binding.
  2. The law of the Federal Republic of Germany applies. If you are a consumer, the mandatory consumer protection rules of the country where you have your habitual residence remain unaffected.
  3. We are neither obliged nor willing to take part in dispute resolution proceedings before a consumer arbitration board.

15. Contact

You reach us through the point of contact in the imprint.
