Rules on Uploads and Copyright
This English text is a translation for your convenience. Only the German version is binding. Deutsche Fassung (verbindlich)
These rules are part of the terms of service of Meets (meets.social). They apply to everything you upload or publish on Meets: texts, images, videos, audio, course content, files and resources.
1. Your warranty
With every upload you warrant to Meets that:
- You created the content or hold every right needed to publish it on Meets, including the rights in image, sound, music, text, trademarks and logos.
- Everyone recognizable in the content has consented, or the law allows publication without consent. For children, their parents or guardians have consented.
- The content breaks no law and does not break the Community Guidelines.
- The audio of your video is original audio as described in section 3.
If third parties bring claims against Meets because of your content because you culpably breached this warranty, you indemnify Meets against these claims to the extent the law allows.
2. Rights of use for Meets
Your content stays your content. So that Meets can work, you grant Meets a simple, free of charge, territorially unlimited right to store, copy and technically adapt your content (for example format, size, compression, subtitles) for running Meets and to make it available to the public within the visibility you chose. The right ends when you delete the content, except for copies we must keep for legal reasons.
3. Original audio only
At launch the rule on Meets is: videos contain original audio only.
- Original audio is your voice, the sound of your own recording (for example ambient sound on your run) and music you composed and recorded yourself.
- Music by others is allowed only if you have written permission from all rights holders to publish it on Meets. This covers both the composition and the recording.
- Background music playing at an event (for example a playlist during a sauna ritual, a workout or a supper club) is not original audio. Remove the audio or mute the video.
- Meets currently offers no music library and no feature to add music.
- Music from the music library of Instagram, TikTok or other platforms is licensed for that platform only. You must not bring it to Meets, also not in imported videos.
4. Content imported from other platforms
When you bring content from Instagram or other platforms to Meets:
- Use the official data export of the platform. Automated downloading (scraping) is not allowed.
- You need the rights in all imported content. Photos by photographers or agencies are often licensed for your own channels only.
- For joint posts (collabs) you need the consent of everyone involved.
- A consent that people in the picture gave for Instagram does not automatically cover Meets. Ask again where needed, and always for sensitive situations (for example sauna, breathwork).
- Comments and likes of other people are not imported.
- Music from platform libraries is removed before the import (see section 3 item 5).
5. Notice and takedown for rights holders
If you believe that content on Meets infringes your copyright, trademark or personality rights:
- Use the "Report" function on the content and choose "Copyright or other rights", or write to the point of contact for users in the imprint. You do not need an account for this.
- State: the exact location of the content (link), which right is infringed and why, your name and email address, the person or company you represent if any, and a statement that your information is correct and complete to the best of your knowledge.
- We confirm that we received your notice.
- We review the notice promptly, diligently and objectively. If the infringement is obvious, we remove or block the content. If only the audio infringes, we mute the audio and keep the picture online.
- We inform you about our decision and about your options to challenge it.
6. Information and objection of the uploader
- If we remove, block or mute your content, you receive a statement of reasons: what we did, why, on which basis, and how you can complain.
- You can object within six months, for example if you hold a license or a legal permission applies (such as quotation, parody, caricature or pastiche). Evidence helps our review.
- A person reviews your objection. If it is justified, we restore the content.
- We can pass your objection to the person who reported, without your contact details, so they can pursue their rights in court.
7. Repeated infringements
- Every justified removal for an infringement counts as a strike of the acting account, also when it posted in the name of an organization or a community.
- After the first strike we warn. After the second strike within twelve months we can suspend uploads temporarily. After the third strike within twelve months we review a permanent ban of the account from all of Meets.
- A strike expires after twelve months. If an objection is accepted as justified, the strike is removed at once.
- For serious infringements we ban at once.
- Before any ban we warn, except for serious infringements, and every ban comes with reasons.
8. Misuse of the notice procedure
Whoever repeatedly submits manifestly unfounded notices, for example to suppress the content of others, can be excluded from having their notices handled for a reasonable period after a prior warning. Whoever knowingly and falsely claims to be a rights holder loses the right to submit notices and must expect legal action.
9. Contact
Notices of infringements reach us through the "Report" function or through the point of contact in the imprint.
